Hungarian Politics in 2019

The presentation of Policy Solution’s latest edition to their series of yearbooks “Hungarian politics in 2019” drew a large and distinguished audience, on January 21st 2020.

In the panel discussion, newly elected Deputy Mayors Dávid Dorosz (Deputy Mayor of Budapest, Dialogue party) and Anna Orosz (Deputy Mayor of Budapest’s 11th district ,Momentum) were debating the opportunities and challenges of newly elected municipal leaders with Zoltán Pogátsa, (Professor, University of West Hungary, Editor-in-chief of  New Equality magazine) and Krisztina Arató (Professor, Head of the Political Science Department, ELTE University).

In five sections, this publication reviews the year 2019, including foreign affairs, Hungary’s role in Europe and economic policies. Some key developments of the Hungarian society – media landscape, increasing government control over culture and science – are also discussed. All of the sections conclude with a brief analysis of the issues which may come to the fore in 2020.
