Online panel discussion: Loss of direction – Neglected workers and the Corona virus as an economic and social problem

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a profound employment crisis not only in Hungary but also globally. There are just a few people who have not been affected economically in one way or another by the coronavirus pandemic. On behalf of the Budapest office of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Márton Czirfusz, researcher at the Periphery Centre, prepared a study entitled "The management of the Covid-19 crisis and the changes in the situation of employees in the Hungarian manufacturing sector" which aims to analyse Hungary's current economic and investment policies, to examine the potential effects on employment and to get a better understanding of the employees’ leeway in Hungarian investment projects in order to improve their working conditions and bargaining position. The Budapest office of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung is organising a panel discussion with leaders of employees’ and employers’ representatives, economic and investment experts and the author of the study on Hungary's current situation in terms of the crisis management in the world of labour, the challenges to be expected in the light of international economic trends and the COVID crisis. We would like to cordially invite all interested parties via the ZOOM platform.
