Thursday, 07.05.2020 - Zoom Meeting

Collapsed revenues and difficult access to information in the media market

A short report was published by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung on the effects of COVID-19 on the political press market in Hungary.

The report deals with three topics: How did the COVID-19 epidemic effect the revenues of political offline and online media? How did access to information change during the Corona crisis? How is media coverage and the quality of news analysed on topics on the epidemic and its consequences? The report is based on anonymous interviews with leading members of the online and offline political press.

After the presentation of the report, Szabolcs Dull, editor-in-chief of the Index, Péter Szauer, publisher of HVG Zrt. and Ágnes Urbán, head of Mérték Media Monitor, spoke about the conclusion of the short report and discussed possible solutions to challenges raised.
