Filmclub and discussion: „Vagabond” (1985)
Agnès Varda's film "Vagabond" (1985) will be screened on Monday (27 February) in collaboration with Mérce. The film follows a young homeless woman in the weeks before her death, and shows the world in which the protagonist ends up completely lonely. Agnès Varda is the only female director of the French New Wave. In her films, she presents strong female characters who are searching for their place in a male-dominated world – this is also the story of Mona, the protagonist of the film „Vagabond”. The film was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. After the screening, Ferenc Kőszeghy talks to Vera Kovács, social policy expert, housing activist, founder and staff member of From Street to Homes Association (ULE, Utcáról Lakásba Egyesület), and Máté Konkol, independent film director. The screening and the following discussion will be in Hungarian, no translation will be provided.
