Personal is political

Feminists initially used the phrase "personal is political" to mean that the treatment of women in the home and in the social sphere was a political matter.

Now it is being used to mean everything from "politics is personal" to something like everything a woman does is political or that all personal choices are political choices. The boundary between personal and political has become increasingly blurred. In a joint event of the FES and OFF-Biennale we brought together social science academics and social movements activists with the art world to critically engage with these questions.
