New Risks through Artificial Intelligence?
The more AI systems mature, the greater the risk seems that "deep fakes" will become better and better and easier to spread. How likely does this seem from the point of view of media professionals, in an age where fake news, troll factories and targeted as well as unintended influence on democratic voting decisions by citizens are already causing concern? What consequences would such manipulation possibilities have for the credibility of, for example, videos in our audio-visual society? What skills do we need to recognise manipulation? What solutions does science recommend to control artificial intelligence?
Will algorithms that write deceptively real texts, targeted precisely at selected target groups and voter milieus, penetrate ever deeper into our everyday lives - as chatbots and fake news?
Artificial intelligence is currently being criticised for being partly responsible for the mass dissemination of fake news. What types of artificial intelligence are used in journalism at present and in the future, and which AI-based tools are suitable for combating fake news?
